Udaipur Mewar is the historical capital of the erstwhile Rajputana agency. It was founded by Maharana Udai Singh II of Sisodia dynasty of Rajput in 1558, when he shifted his capital from Chittorgarh, when Akbar surrounded Chittorgarh.
